Seaplanes of Lake Union with Jules James (6 min.)

Only eleven years after the Wright Brothers’ first flight, Lake Union began making its mark in aviation history.  Today it is one of the busiest seaplane bases in the world, where airplanes, sailboats, kayaks and wildlife mix with surprising harmony.

CORRECTION: In the video soundtrack, Jules James says “I’m guessing that Lake Union is the busiest seaplane base....in the United States on any given summer’s day.”  A visitor to this website has pointed out that Lake Hood in Anchorage, AK, statistically enjoys that distinction.
